Власти города устроили праздник, во время которого на мост смогли зайти 74 тысячи горожан, правда не одновременно, а группами в течение дня. Среди почетных гостей был один рабочий, который участвовал в строительстве моста, продолжавшегося пять лет с 1935 по 1940 год.
