On Friday, July 28, the traditional St.Vladimir's Ball was held in the Queensland Russian Community Center (QRCC) hall. This good tradition is connected with the memory of the Saint Prince Vladimir, the patron saint of the Center, who baptized Rus' into Orthodoxy more than a thousand years ago, in 988. The adoption of Christianity contributed to the spiritual unification of the peoples of Russia.

St Vladimir’s Ball provides an opportunity for the members of the Russian Community Center to get together, socialize, meet friends and meet new people.

The Queensland Russian Community Centre held their Annual St Vladimir’s Ball on the Friday the 28th July 2023 at their Lotus Street Hall in Woolloongabbba. Attended by 130 people, the event was entertained by the Folkloric Ensemble ‘Samotsvety‘, Soloist Olga Derevtsova and for dancing, Livio, the very lively one man orchestra.

The Committee of the QRCC said that they were delighted to see so many people in the community supporting the Centre along with our major sponsors whose interest in our community is greatly appreciated. “It’s great to see people dancing, socialising and just having fun. These functions would not be possible without the help of our volunteers. We would like to thank every one of the volunteers for giving their time to prepare all the traditional Russian dishes and cakes like our Babas and Mamas use to make."

The current committee decided to continue this annual tradition from 2019 after it had not been held for over 10 years previously.
Members of the Committee of the Center took part in the organization of this ball: President - Elena Chipizubov, Secretary - Nikita Avetisoff, Treasurer - Ann Peshkoff, Assistant Treasurer - Walter Savonoff, Member - Irene Paznikov and a group of volunteers.
