The resting place of Russian people

Rookwood in Sydney is Australia's largest Cemetery. Since its opening in 1867, more than a million Sydney residents have been buried here. It is also the largest resting place for Russian people in the Southern Hemisphere.

Only in the two main Russian Orthodox sections of the Russian Orthodox are more than seven thousand graves where more than ten thousand people are buried. There are two Orthodox chapels there. The number of empty seats in the cemetery, which is located only 14 km from the city center and 1 km from Lidcombe station, is very limited today. In the coming years, new burial grounds will be opened on the western outskirts of the city.

Not so long ago, the cemetery management opened a new Russian section of RO4A on which there are still free places. Those who are interested in purchasing a place in the historical cemetery in advance can contact the cemetery administration info@rookwoodcemetery.com.au http://www.rookwoodcemetery.com.au/ Hawthorne Ave, Rookwood NSW 2141

The administration has prepared a video about the Russian Sectionss of the Rookwood cemetery
