Fifty years ago, on July 21, 1969, man first set foot on the moon. The names of these people are well known: these are Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin. The name of the spacecraft that brought them to the moon, Apollo 11, is also well known. Far from everybody knows about the fundamental role of Australian astronomers in the Apollo program.
